Wednesday in the White Mountains of New Hampshire...I try to explore a hike or some other recreational activity on my day away from the real estate office. This weeks was a four mile round trip gaunt in the woods Mount Pemigewasset - Also known as Indian Head.
Indian head from two miles away...This is supposed to look like a Native American with a headdress.
The Flume parking lot of the Franconia Notch parkway is where you'll start this hike. Lincoln New Hampshire. The start of the hike...is paved and doubles as a bike path and winter snowmobile corridor through the notch. We really wanted to hike the Flume gorge...but found the board walk had been taken down for the winter. Still a nice hike but getting in to the Flume, and not being able to see the best part sealed the deal we decided to pass today and do Indian Head.
A mile in to the hike we hit snow which made it slippery but pretty, and still well worth the views ahead.
The out cropping of rock, at the top features about a 100 foot drop...and a great view.
Eastern view over towards Loon Mountain ski resort...just a dusting at 3,000 feet.
Top Of Mount Pemigewasset 2,560 (also known as Indian Head)...Looking South View of I-93.
The View of Mount Lafayette... elevation 5,260 feet -way above the snow line even in early November .
Mount Lincoln...on the right is a little closer in proximity to this shot so it may look higher but it's 5,080 feet.
Exiting Indian Head...is the final view before heading back in to the woods , a beautiful North western range which I'm sure would be great to witness at sunset ...but the hike down would have been no fun. Good-night White Mountains of New Hampshire...there are 48 - 4,000 plus foot mountains in New Hampshire...I will work on doing them all in time.
