Let me run down some of the trails and peaks I tried today...First Run, Intermediate Cruiser on south peak.
I little over cast but a great first run
Even the trees were pretty today...the pines were crusted with ice, and the hemlock trees were heavily weighed down with a thick blanket of snow.
Next Run - Boom Run, also on the South Peak Side of Loon's ski resort.
We are not relying on Mother nature...the snow guns are still cranking it out, some of these piles were 15-20 feet high...Ripsaw (double black diamond) will be open for the weekend.
The clouds moved back in again...hope you can see the nice mountain views looking north from Upper Flying Fox Trail. This is the original slopes built near the Gondola lift.
Haul Back to lower Flume Trail was the next run...these slopes are off the North Peak section of Loon Mountain.
After a few runs on the Governor's side of the Mountain...it was over to upper bear claw...to the Tote road lift, in order to get back to the south peak side where I parked you have to take a lift that goes in both directions between two of the ski area peaks.
A couple more runs on the south side and...it was time to get back to the office for a 1pm appointment.
The Pemi Base camp (named after the Pemigewasset river near by) and the home we recently built beside the base lodge (custom home for a client)...with his own ski back trail that leads to the ski room in the house.
A pretty good first day on the slopes...and my office is a few hundred yards away so I was back for my meeting in plenty of time.
The snow conditions were wonderful, if you are taking a trip to the white mountains give Loon Mountain a try
Just two hours from Boston...and miles from an ordinary day off in the winter.
