My Favorite Lazy-man Hikes in New Hampshire.

I have climbed many of the 4,000+ foot hikes in the state, and have climbed and skied Tuckerman's ravine in my younger days (peak of Mt. Washington 6,300+ feet). These days I am looking for less strain but all the reward. From South to North here are my recomended easy hikes (anyone young or not so young can do these: strolls through the woods).

#1 Rattle Snake Mountain Holderness Route 113.

With views of Squam lake, and well built trails

it not hard to get there and the sights across the lake

are incredible. Bring a lunch and carry out your stuff.

#2 Indian Head at the Flume state park, Lincoln  Rte 3

Indian head is a short hike from the Flume parking lot

but while you are at the Flume, you should take some time

to see the gorge, waterfalls and covered bridge.

#3 Artist Bluff Franconia Notch, across from Cannon Mt.

Echo Lake and Cannon Mountain Ski Area views that

change with the season, but the hike is only 1/2 an hour.

The view to the east are of Lafayette , Mt. Lincoln & Mt.Liberty

The Peak of Mt. Lafayette & the Appalachian Trail

are for more serious hikers. I have done this ridge

but not for many years. I think I'll stick to the easy ones.
