Indian Leap & Lost river caves, Rte 112 Woodstock New Hampshire

For us this was a two-fer, we had planned on dinner at Govoni's restaurant in Woodstock New Hampshire anyway, but we also love the Waterfall directly behind the venue as well. It really makes waiting to be seated  enjoyable, and of course many people not there for dinner were there to explore lost river.

If you haven't been to the lost river caves that is a great place to spend a hot august day. they are mostly shaded and cool in more ways than one.

The Story of Lost River Caves:  The first documented exploration of Lost River took place in 1852. Similar to Alice’s tumble down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland, local historian Elmer E. Woodbury related in his writings how the Jackman brothers, Royal and Lyman were busily fishing along the stream, working their way over and around the boulders when suddenly Lyman disappeared out of site as if the earth had swallowed him up. He had slipped into a moss covered hole and fallen into a cave about 15 feet below into a pool of water about waist deep. Now known as Shadow Cave, it was the first of the many caves the boys would soon discover.   Lost River Link

Lost river Road is the other end of the Kancamagus which is also called rte 112...from North Conway to Lincoln is the Kanc...From Lincoln to the Vermont boarder it's called Lost River Rd.

Here are a couple of shots I took From Govoni's Restaruant...Hurry and visit for dinner they close after Labor Day but Lost river Caves stay open well into the fall.

This is the Foot Bridge behind Govoni's and the Indian leap...with about a 25 foot drop to the river below.

White Mountain Wednesday a day on the river...swim, steal , love

Wordless Wednesday...A quick kayak, a stolen lunch and a day with my gal.Kayak

My poor kayaks have been sitting on the wood pile since last Summer...but we hit the water today.

Visited by Raccoons.   Bandits!!

A day on the river with my gal...reward for a hard paddle, the grape.

Life in the White Mountains of New Hampshire...I know a good Realtor who can find you a place on the river.

Hot time summer in the counrty...New Hampshire Heat wave.

For the second day in a row I hit the links and hit the pond after I was done. In 90 Degree weather...you need a cool down plan. I promise no pictures of me in swimming trunks. But my son will add some action shots to the post. We have been working on a one acre water hazard in our yard...it is being put to use  this week.

            Long Jump                                                            Splash down

Conor was one of the top triple jumpers in the state and applies the training to our pond when it's this hot.

The river is looking quite inviting as the temps hit 93.   Take me to the River!

Echo Lake: base of Cannon Mountain in the Franconia Notch state park...great view & Cool Mountain lake.

The White Mountains of New Hampshire is a cool place to spend your Summer, it will get down in to the mid 60's at night even when is hovers in the mid 90's during the day.

Down at beach level on Echo Lake, even when it's this hot I can't stay in very long this water is so cold...there was snow on the trails just two months ago. We joke in the White mountains we have Spring , summer, fall and winter - But refer to them as Mud Season, Bug Season, Off season ans Ski season...this year Bug season has been replace by a legitimate "summer Heat-Wave". Cool off in one of the many rivers, lakes or ponds...slow down and have a cold drink, you'll live longer. Take your family to the beach and relax.

Sunday sunny side of the stream...and my Honey do list.

I came in for a rental showing, but promised my wife I would work on the Honey -Do-List. I made plans to go to Home Depot to get the things I needed, I have to re-build the back stairs before some fat visitor ends up on the ground. I really must get my rear in gear, and get this project started. But First a stroll to the stream, the sun was so nice and water sparkling...it's hard to do home improvements when it is this nice out.

You see my dilemma, who can go back to power tools when you would rather be off in the woods.

The biting sound of blade on wood or the rushing water of a stream...No excuses back to work.

Stream enters the Pemi River

When I went back to the garage to find the right size drill bit I spied my Hammock stored for the winter...I think I have figured out the reward when the job is done. (this is where the hammock hooks are installed)

Enjoy your Sunday...make sure you take a little time to rest, it's Monday again tomorrow.

A White Mountain New Hampshire resort worth visiting

Deer Park Woodstock New Hampshire

Forget the sales pitch…Yeah I have a few condos for sale at this resort, and yeah I would like to sell them, but what I really want my readers to see is the cool pictures. The Resort is called Deer Park, it is in the White mountains of New Hampshire, and it has a long section of river frontage and a private pond on the property. That would be cool all by itself, but that is not all, this location offers.

The recreation center has views of the near by ski trails at Loon Mountain in Lincoln NH. You can walk to the quaint town of Woodstock, visit a brew pub, rent a kayak or go for a hike. The White Mountain National Forest abuts the resort, and you can hike on 800,000 acres from this spot.

If your family is in to the attraction scene here is what is offered with in a five mile radius: Tram rides, a live bear show, train rides, mini golf, real golf, a huge water park, horse back riding, zip-line tours, mountain biking, gondola rides, cave exploration, covered bridges, kayaking, tennis, racket ball, bumper boats, fire truck museum, glider planes, scotch games, The north country performing arts (live plays) children theater and over 50 restaurants to choose from  and when there is snow:

Skiing, snow boarding, snow tubing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, cross country, ice skating, snow shoeing, and you can still visit the après entertainment and four screen movie theater…all year.

If you don’t mind a two hour drive from Boston (all highway), or less from Vermont, Maine and Montreal…you could check this place out too.

Real Estate Blog Ahead: Deer Park Resort offers Quarter-share condos from $29,900 and three bedroom whole ownership from under 300k. Had to finish with a final pitch…Call me about real estate or just ask what to do when you get here.

While showing a property yesterday I was heading up the highway...when my client said "Wow Look at this view", I replied "this is the exit ramp I take every day to go to work and I see this under all types of lighting and conditions each and every day".
