What a difference a few months make....seasonal photos White Mountains NH

Summer is in full swing in the white mountains of New Hampshire

This river valley is so beautiful and wide it's hard to even see the folks down by the river frolicking in the water.

Same Route 175 Woodstock New Hampshire bridge in April  .... three months ago.

...

Scene from my Hammock spot 3 months ago to the day...8 degrees in April ...85 in July.

The water is low and calm in the summer along the stony shore of the Pemigewasset river.

This is the same location with 20 feet of ice piled up and a raging river taking trees down with the water.

..

Ready... Set.... Jump. (this was once the site of a covered bridge)

.

Route 175 Bridge in Woodstock NH October 2010...9 months ago, all the photos were taken with in a few 100 yards of each other and all were with in a nine month period.

Looking for sales or long term rentals in the Loon Mountain ski resort area or the Lakes region of New Hampshire use the MLS button on the bottom of this post ...call me or email any questions. Enjoy the seasons they are always changing and worth a wonderful country walk.

White Mountain NH Golf shots... Jack O'Lantern resort Woodstock.

The rule is fairways and greens when you're golfing...I get to see much more of the course than I should.

Along the course runs a set of rail road tracks the dinner train rolled by, the two story dinning car is pretty darn cool. But it is a bit distracting when you are trying to chip...it only comes by at night (7 pm - for dinner service) google Cafe Lafayette diner train for reservations.

Covered bridge on the course is a nice bit of New England nostalgia, and a nice photo op.

This great blue Heron watched my approach with some interest. I'm not sure if they are a protected species...but this one was lucky enough to avoid a wayward tee shot. I did break 70 tonight, and will try the back nine the next time I get a chance to play again.

*I have a three bedroom condo listed on this golf course (1,650 Sq. Ft) 6 miles from Loon Mt for $165,000.

I spend way more time selling real estate than I do playing golf, but that will be obvious if you  get out with me for a round.

History Lesson taught at the Breakfast place on the Corner, Woodstock NH

I'm a frequent visitor to Peg's restaurant in the Village of Woodstock...they run a 99 cent breakfast special every morning and the cast of characters is worth the price of admission. Sue Fadden Runs the place, and her Husband Jimmy acts as the grand marshal for the daily parade of locals and tourists alike.  In case you are wondering Peg was Sue Faddens Mother, and Fadden's general Store is just up the street a piece.

The left hand side of the street, is a white building with a covered entry that is where Peg's is today.

This Morning Jim and I were talking about the old covered bridge down by my house, and he said wait a sec - I got something upstairs you should see. This is not a great photo, as it is a photo of a black and white photo, but if you look close you'll see the Covered bridge on the bottom right. The majority of the shot shows what looks like a field of hay laying down flat. That is actually a log pond, where the lumber mills held the trees for cutting.

The Fadden's are sixth generation natives "of these parts"... and when they reminisce about the 90's you really have to ask if they're talking about the 1890's or the 1990's.Anyway! I purchased my land from a paper company years ago, and they had gotten the property in a land deal when the state wanted to run a highway up through this Woodstock valley. My House is now dead center of this picture it would have been underwater  in this shot.

Here is the view from my house today facing north over the old log pond.

According to Jimmy: A lot of things built for and from the Lumber Mill, burned to the ground at one time or another over the years. There were two Grand Hotels in Town, the Alpine Club and the Deer Park...gone now, there were at least 4 covered bridges...burned and gone now.Clark's Trading post...was a dog sled training post and is now Famous for their live bear shows and train rides. There is a lot of history in this little town and if you have time for a second cup of coffee and you catch Jimmy in a talkative mood you'll find out a lot about these here parts. If they have some home made Maple syrup on the shelf, grab some the Fadden's make their own and use it at Pegs for your Pancakes.  I once sent a Package to my Activerain Friend TLW, she'll tell you if the Maple syrup is any good.

If you are ever in N. Woodstock NH...Try Peg's for Breakfast, and get something that comes with Maple syrup.  Fadden's Store & Sugarhouse

Visit Clark's see the bears and

take a train ride...oh by the way we have two of the Largest ski resorts in the state but they have only been around for 50 or so years...they're the new attractions on the block. Loon & Cannon Mountain ski resorts.

Indian Leap...waterfalls in Woodstock New Hampshire

Moosilauke Brook and Lost River join just above Indian Leap - A/K/A Agassiz Basin, the rocks are decidedly prehistoric in feel, the wear of time has cut a serious chasm in the hard Granite ledge .The waterways have carved this deep cavern with 30 foot or more drops from the ledge to the water below. Keep an eye on the little ones when you visit these smooth stones can be dangerous. This site is about 2 miles from the intersection of Rte 3 and Rte 112...Lost river road...is The Kancamagus highway until it reaches the village of Woodstock New Hampshire...where it is renamed Lost River Road.

The narrow chasm is not far across but what a drop....young braves were tested here , I used the bridge.

It would not be fun to fall from here...the view is worth the risk of visiting the edge for a picture.

Lost river road...pull in at the seasonal site of Govoni's restaurant for the best parking spot.

View great property listings on my MLS link at the bottom of the post...open the icon and search all available listings in Grafton County...44 towns listed by price and type of property... Hope you enjoyed the photos.

A photo day in the life of Birch Hollow, Woodstock New Hampshire

  Sun Up on Birch Hollow

Have a look at the Birch trees..

This White Birch is near the end of it's life cycle...this baby is huge.

A few of the trees in the Hollow are starting to turn red, the tips of this small maple are showing fall foliage.

I liked the reflection of the clouds and blue sky in this calm section of the Pemi River as the dark set in.

The Sun goes down on Birch Hollow....

Back from  my walk ...goodnight Birch Hollow.

A White Mountain New Hampshire resort worth visiting

Deer Park Woodstock New Hampshire

Forget the sales pitch…Yeah I have a few condos for sale at this resort, and yeah I would like to sell them, but what I really want my readers to see is the cool pictures. The Resort is called Deer Park, it is in the White mountains of New Hampshire, and it has a long section of river frontage and a private pond on the property. That would be cool all by itself, but that is not all, this location offers.

The recreation center has views of the near by ski trails at Loon Mountain in Lincoln NH. You can walk to the quaint town of Woodstock, visit a brew pub, rent a kayak or go for a hike. The White Mountain National Forest abuts the resort, and you can hike on 800,000 acres from this spot.

If your family is in to the attraction scene here is what is offered with in a five mile radius: Tram rides, a live bear show, train rides, mini golf, real golf, a huge water park, horse back riding, zip-line tours, mountain biking, gondola rides, cave exploration, covered bridges, kayaking, tennis, racket ball, bumper boats, fire truck museum, glider planes, scotch games, The north country performing arts (live plays) children theater and over 50 restaurants to choose from  and when there is snow:

Skiing, snow boarding, snow tubing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, cross country, ice skating, snow shoeing, and you can still visit the après entertainment and four screen movie theater…all year.

If you don’t mind a two hour drive from Boston (all highway), or less from Vermont, Maine and Montreal…you could check this place out too.

Real Estate Blog Ahead: Deer Park Resort offers Quarter-share condos from $29,900 and three bedroom whole ownership from under 300k. Had to finish with a final pitch…Call me about real estate or just ask what to do when you get here.
