Let me run down some of the trails and peaks I tried today...First Run, Intermediate Cruiser on south peak.
I little over cast but a great first run
Even the trees were pretty today...the pines were crusted with ice, and the hemlock trees were heavily weighed down with a thick blanket of snow.
Next Run - Boom Run, also on the South Peak Side of Loon's ski resort.
We are not relying on Mother nature...the snow guns are still cranking it out, some of these piles were 15-20 feet high...Ripsaw (double black diamond) will be open for the weekend.
The clouds moved back in again...hope you can see the nice mountain views looking north from Upper Flying Fox Trail. This is the original slopes built near the Gondola lift.
Haul Back to lower Flume Trail was the next run...these slopes are off the North Peak section of Loon Mountain.
After a few runs on the Governor's side of the Mountain...it was over to upper bear claw...to the Tote road lift, in order to get back to the south peak side where I parked you have to take a lift that goes in both directions between two of the ski area peaks.
A couple more runs on the south side and...it was time to get back to the office for a 1pm appointment.
The Pemi Base camp (named after the Pemigewasset river near by) and the home we recently built beside the base lodge (custom home for a client)...with his own ski back trail that leads to the ski room in the house.
A pretty good first day on the slopes...and my office is a few hundred yards away so I was back for my meeting in plenty of time.
The snow conditions were wonderful, if you are taking a trip to the white mountains give Loon Mountain a try
Just two hours from Boston...and miles from an ordinary day off in the winter.

It's really beautiful. But I'd have to be inside the lodge, by the fire.
Looks good, Steve. I love the photo from Upper Flying Fox Trail. I'm heading out right now for a few turns. Bluebird day here today.
Steve... It looks like alot of fun! I've only been to New Hampshire in the Fall...the changing of the leaves were incredible. Although I be the skiing is incredible.
Cheron
Steve - It's been such a long time since I went to NH. Thanks for the great photos. Sounds like you had an exhilarating day on the slopes even though it was brief.
Steve, You know that I don't like the cold very much (which is why I live in the South). Now I can see why you love your area so much...Absolutely beautiful. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.
Great photos Steve...glad you were able to catch a couple of runs!
WOWZA! There is nothing like a fresh dusting of powder! We might be getting some of the white powdery stuff here in Atlanta.... No, no, not that kind... the stuff that falls from the sky.
Thanks for shariong, it looks like you had the slopes almost to yourself today... SWEET
Startlingly beautiful photos, Steve. Easy commute from Boston!
Whoa, baby - that's freaking awesome! Seriously - those are some amazing pictures and the skiing looks unbelievable!
Beautiful photos Steve. Almost and I must stress Almost makes me want to go skiing!
Save me a seat inside by the fire with Tammy! Those pictures are beautiful...you really do have a great life!
Thanks all It was a great mental health day...lots of fun, and Sore legs tonight.
Shot from the top of the gondola lift... nice day in the end.
Sharon, Don't be too envious...the ski resort has been open for 6 weeks and this was my first day out...sad to work and live this close and let business keep me from skiing a little more often. no whining though today was a blast.
Stunning.
Steve those shots are beautiful, and that is a lot of snow.
How high up is that mountain?
Steve...Great Pics...but 1ST
Steve...Great Pics...but 1ST
Steve...Great pics..but, 1ST TIME OUT!? The season is almost 1/2 over! Glad you were able to enjoy a few runs today!
It looks spectacular and what a great name, Loon Mountain. You must be the only place East of the Mississippi without enough snow. The whole of Europe is snowed in.
George...most of the mountains near by are 4,000 -5,000 foot peaks.
Bill, I know it's sad...but the Holidays are so busy with out of state visitors I can't get out till things slow down.
Jane, We have plenty of snow on the ground, but when it's this cold the machines keep making man-made to extend the season at the other end and cover deeply the steep slopes that tend to scratch off when skied.
Great photos Steve. I always thought I was lucky to live 30 minutes away from our area Ski Resort, but having an office a few hundred yards away is really unbelievable! You are the lucky one!
Terrie...I kind of feel like the cobblers kid, I live here and see the slopes everyday...but have many friends that ski 100+ days and I'll be lucky to get out 15 or 20 times a season. Hey that's real estate!!
Steve.. I can almost smell the snow in the air from here. The snow of the skis on the snow, and the cold breath that leaves your mouth.. I'm jealous. I remember those days well.
I'm really jealous that your office is so close to the mountain. How do you stay focused on work, with play-time, right outside your door?
Steve:
Those fabulous photos actually make me miss skiing. It was so much fun and there is no place more beautiful than the top of a snow covered mountain.
Claudette, Why are you speaking in the past tense, nothing stopping you from a day of the slopes...unless you are not allowed to leave the state?...Come up we'll ski together!!
