Let me share today’s Skiing Experience; when you don’t have any snow left in your yard don’t count the mountain out just Yet!! This is my favorite time of the year to strap on the boards. While the Monsoon rains hit most of New England Last Week above the 1,500 foot elevation mark…Loon Mountain receives 35 inches of new snow. How can I tell, look at the Photo I took of the lift line? This terrain was cut for the chair lift and is not a groomed trail or a location they have any reason to make the man-made stuff. There was enough snow that the illegal poaching of a non-ski trail was done by the Mad-Skiers.
Lunch at Camp 3, on the North Peak Side is a right of spring, 55 trails open, 5 terrain parks two half pipes and 6 tree skiing areas currently compliment the great conditions.
I started out on the South Mountain Side of Loon Mountain resort; this allows me to mix a bit of Business and pleasure. We have a couple of homes under construction and being able to ski while checking on the building progress is a bonus.
The Gondola is a great way to get a bunch of runs in on a nice day. The Sun seekers beat a path to the chair lifts (to stay outside) while the hard core gang find the fast up hill mode of transportation and get as many vertical feet under their belt as they can.
This weekends event…fun and Fun raiser, with a great cause.
Join WXRV- The River at this year's 2010 Briefcase Race with Mike Lynch. Friends and supporters of The Faulkner Breast Centre gather at Loon Mountain on the first Saturday in March to ski, have fun and raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
The Race is a fun day for all. Racers come dressed in costume with a briefcase in one hand and compete in an easy, dual nastar race. Since its inception, the Briefcase Race has raised over $700,000 for The Breast Centre, helping to ensure that they are able to provide the latest diagnosis and treatment options to our patients.
The race also helps to fund active clinical research projects, patient support programs and continued
education for our staff. Visit www.briefcaserace.org for registration information.

Steve while these are great pics and great events for worthy causes, let me be the first to say come on spring. Nice post
Beautiful part of the world, I have a phobia for skiing so never get those top-o-the-mountain views personally. I sure enjoy them from your vantage point!
Gerry...We work the sport side of life pretty hard in the Mountains...all but a very few of the last 20 years, we have skied in the Morning and played golf in the afternoon (usually mid-to-late April) this feat can be done.
Steve, you never know when you are in teh moutains what the temps and weather may be. With people thinking that the snow is almost gone, should make for some wide open skiing.
Steve.. When I don't have snow LEFT in my yard? I haven't had any to speak of this year in the first place. UGH! Seems I will have to come North.
Val, You keep threatening to come up north...we have about 6-7 weeks left of skiing, time to make a trip.
Steve - I hope you'll share pictures of the Briefcase Race. That sounds totally hysterical!
Steve, the snow is all gone down here. Glad there is still a place for skiers to go and have some fun.
Steve, The briefcase race and costumes sound like a lot of fun-mainly cuz it's a bit hokey and no one else is doing it. I love creative events like that-have fun!
Steve, it looks like Spring skiing would be a blast! It's been some time since I've been up! But, I'm ready for some sunshine too!
Jane, I think the best events truly take people out of their comfort zone...and makes the zaniness all that more fun.
