steve's White Mountain Blog

Get out and mingle if your clients don't come to you go to them.

White Mountain Views of …the tallest peak in the North east.

From Loon mountain ski area in Lincoln New Hampshire is one of the most accessible ski resorts from metropolitan Boston. And on a clear day you can see for miles and miles, Mount Washington is about 6,300 feet at its peak. It is also about 60 miles away from my local ski area. Today, with the skies so clear and blue you can see it like its right beside you.

Being in the vacation home business this is my office on days like this.

I handed out three business cards on the lifts and one in the parking lot. The best thing about bumping in to people on days like this…is they are having a great time and buying a ski property can really be on their mind.

I’m here to tell you in my business this is not goofing off, this is networking.

At Least that is my story and I’m sticking with it!!

If you get the chance to get out and Ski with a client (Golf, boat etc) you have found a mutual like that can lead to a long term referral net work. I've been a Realtor for 26 years and been skiing all my life, combine what you do with what you love and both will bring you joy.

Love it, Steve. What a perfect place for you to work.  When I had a rental condo on Kauai and needed to attend homeowner meetings, I realized that nowhere is it written that work must be disagreeable!

Great points made here Steve. You're not goofing off. You're networking with like minded people. The other night I handed out business cards at a concert. You just never know where the business will come from. But if you don't get out and ask for it, you won't get it.

Sounds like my office in my boat on the weekends Steve.  Any place is a good place to meet new clients!

Steve, between your classroom and your office, I'd say your looking pretty good...I do agree with you about going to your clients, Brian Buffini talks about doing "pop bys" with your clients

Aw, Steve, if I had your scenery and fun things to do I would be "networking" all the time!  Hey, on a side note....I just was at a sellers house (not mine) meeting the roof inspector for my buyer.  The seller and I got to talking and guess where she lives??? White Mountains NH! HA!!!  This was a second house for her and now she will be up there full time - already has a house there though, sorry!  I did give her your name though and said to look you up if she ever needed help!

Steve, that sounds like tough duty, but somebody's got to do it, right?  Nice way to network.

Craig, I assume many will tell me that I'm making excuses to go skiing (maybe) but I have condos on a golf course locally and the course owner has referred people to me that purchased (because I'm a member and the only Realtor...who pays the dues)...so scoff the rest of you if you must but second home deals are done while recreation is happening

Leesa, These are the connection we make that you never know where they will lead. Thank you for thinking of me.

Steve.. So, what you are saying is that you can write off today's lift ticket as a business expense. :).  In this line of work, you always need to be working.  You never know where/when the next client will come from.

Val, I am trying to tell people we still have great skiing going on. And I did meet a few folks I gave my card too.

Monika, Jay has the right idea, I always have cards with me when I'm enjoying the things that make or state so special.

Steve - Anytime is a good time to network... Seems strange though that we got all the snow down here this year and seeing these pics kinda proves it to me... Only difference is our state shuts down when it snows as much as it did here this year......And that's my story and I'm stickin to it...

Steve this is my moto.  I go to our local town area and shop, but I am really there to pass out my cards.  I also do this where I get my nails done, chamber mixers, golfing, whatever.  Your right, you can't wait for them to come to you and have some fun doing it.
