Kancamagus Scenic Highway – March – Picture This.
For everyone that has had enough of winter, and has no snow in their yard anymore, I suggest you take a trip up the Kanc. With a fresh cup of Joe, this morning I decided to see what was up at elevation. All that rain (the “R” word in the ski industry) we got over the last two weeks was …according to the highway department Five Feet of Snow at the pass. There was only one place to pull over and give you some sense of scale…five and a half foot tall S.U.V with 8-9 foot snow banks behind.

I didn’t have to book a flight to see this sight, in fact the places I took these shots are 8 miles from loon Mountain…or about 11 mile from exit 32 of Interstate 93 in Lincoln New Hampshire.

So when the ski reports say there is plenty of snow above 1,500 feet believe them…I’ve seen it, and now you have too.

I tried to find a prior shot in my saved photos…that was close to the location of a similar shot here in March…tell me what you think? Fake noon landing or real snow?

You're so right...for anyone living in New England it's a mere few hours to view such BEAUTY (avg. commuting time for most of the country driving into Metro areas) and Thanks for the Great Pics..."Snow" being (next the smell of fresh pine indoors & presents of course) my favorite part of Winter...which saddly never lasts very long here on Cape Ann...Kris
Steve, looks beautiful. Haven't driven through there in quite some time but always enjoy it when i do.
Steve, as usual the pics are wonderful, however as far visiting or anything else that has to do with snow at this point I'll pass thank you...
pretty cool, perspective Steve with the snow bank and the SUV. Love the "timelapse" shots - pretty clever! Yep, our snow is long gone and looking forward to 70s this weekend. Whew....it was a C O L D winter here!
Leesa, The mountains are Funny it was 40+ at my office this morning and I drove 10 miles up the mountain it was 25 degrees, and the snow banks were 8 feet high.
Steve-if I didn't know better I would think you are in Colorado today. This is what it looks like on Western Slope where I live which is about 180 miles west of Denver. I still like this time of year when you can actually go out and enjoy the beautiful snow becasue it is warm enough and the sun keeps you warm in the daytime.
Have fun on your day adventures!
Debby, Wednesday will be a ski day, we are expecting blue sky's, and still have good snow on the mountains I look forward to my adventures...Its one good reason to get up each day.
The snow is awesome when its a short drive AWAY! Thinking I might want to take a snow day.
Cleaning up after the last to wind storms is getting old fast but had a pretty cool fire today.
Ross, We do have all the seasons in the north country...We have seen all but fall. this week alone.
Steve - Those are absolutely majestic looking views! How fortunate you are that you are within driving distance. Kancamagus Scenic Highway - what an interesting name!
Steve.. Thanks for making my day. This is my kind of winter, and the snow I remember getting. Glad to see someone I know had a chance to enjoy it.
Absolutely breathtaking! I can almost smell the fresh crisp air! As beautiful as it is to look at from afar...I'm not looking for a snow day...I'm looking for Spring!
Hello Steve, Haven't been there myself but it looks very inviting!
VB ;)
A fresh hot cup of joe sounds fabulous with that beautiful scenery!
Steve, that is still a lot of snow!
Sharon, It can be spring on the sea coast but we still have snow up here. Tuckerman's Ravine on Mount Washington will be Skiable (if you hike it) Through Mid-July.
