May 10th photos from the Kancamagus scenic highway, Lincoln New Hampshire. May has arrived but not really in the White Mountains, they didn’t get the memo. It flurried enough to accumulate on one of the highest roads in Northern New England. There are some spectacular views and hikes along this stretch of National Forest, and no commercial structures for 35 miles. For more info about the Kanc

One of the many rest areas along the “KANC” , where you’ll find the story of this national scenic highway, and plaques with the surrounding mountain’s named for easy identification.
The Last riverfront subdivision of land, before becoming National Forest is a property we developed years ago. As you might have guessed the homes along the river and abutting 800,000 acres of preservation land…are stunning examples of mountain life.

Still a little snow in the roof valley's where the dormers shade the sun, on this quaint Adirondack style home.
Just five miles up the Kanc are views like this, and make sure you come back in the fall to see the foliage.

View from the Riverside of one of the homes built at the Riveredge Subdivision...Lincoln New Hampshire

Hows this for a living room view, the water is high as the snow melts in the Pemigewasset river, which runs along the Kancamagus and in to the town of Lincoln New Hampshire. The Kanc is a great place to camp, swim, or sight see but if you want to stay a little longer...the homes on the river are pretty nice too.

Steve,
Looks like a lovely part of our country. I have never been there but enjoyed seeing it through your camera lens...
Steve, those homes are spectacular! It's been chilly here too, but thankfully NO SNOW!!!
A little May snow...no shovels needed just a dusting. The Kancamagus is one of the countries most scenic highways, and it is 35 miles with out a store...or any-other building for that matter, just a beautiful ride. You may very likely see a moose along this route, or when it gets a might warmer stop at one of the many waterfalls and take a dip in a Mountain stream.
Those are some incredible views and equally outstanding properties in your area, Steve! I can't believe there is still snow falling in parts of the country!
I Love that area- may it a point to visit every year- the huge boulders and flat rocks in the state park are really cool too!
Steve, great photos! It is very beautiful in your neck of the woods!
Some of the best camping I ever did was in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. It's just such a picturesque place.
I hope to get back there again before I'm too old to enjoy a good hike!
Leesa, I am ready for the snow to end...but up here we can get it as early as October and as late as May. Luckily at the same time it can be 80 degrees in those same month from one day to another...I'm never bored with the weather.
Craig, You are never to old to hike...they just get shorter, and less steep as time goes by.
Good point my friend! Good point!
Steve.. I like that these homes are built to blend into their environment. I could feel right at home there... NO PROBLEM.
Val,You would look good on a lounge chair on the deck overlooking the water.
Steve, I have driven the Kancamagus Highway a few times and it is a beautiful drive. Great pictures!!!
Geez. I live in Minnesota...quit making me want to move out there. I can't afford it...yet. But, wow, it does look lovely...and I love the mountains. No devlopment for 35 miles...sign me up.
I could spend a lot of time on that deck; looks like a great place to relax and recharge.
George, The rest stop- viewing area is about 6 miles from my office, and if I arrive early I often finish my coffee up here to watch the sun crawl up the western slopes as it rises from the east. Nice way to start the day.
