I am faced with mixed emotions on the occasion of this last 5K cross country meet.
The last Start, Several Colleges have been visited for the weeding out process of next years studies.

Two Miles to go...SAT's have been taken...ACT's this Saturday - Track and Chemistry top the wish list.

One Mile to go...Applications and essays to write and more interview-miles to go before we sleep.

The Finish line is in sight...Straight "A's" hard work and a runners stamina brought to the class room. A summer course of advanced micro biology...and a senior year full of Honors classes and Advanced placement courses. With all the entrance exams, essays and Captain of the cross country team...I'm so very proud words are just not enough.
The Schools are calling offering Track and science Scholarships, the world is your Oyster and you my son are the rarest of perls' you shine in your own unique way. Keep an eye on this one folks he'll make a name for himself and hopes to touch the rest of the world with his discoveries.
Spring Track is really his best events and as the Team Captain of that varsity group, big things are still yet to come.
Great running season...hard work and all the pressures of the college application process. Help Me wish Conor the best of luck in his Senior year.

Good Luck to the seniors who play varsity sports and still study for school work and college entrance exams

Good evening Steve,
What a wonderful post! I wish you and your son the best for his senior year. I'll bet it's hard for you to believe he is in his last year..he is lucky to have a father so proud of his son!
...Conor has a wonderful girlfriend that runs track, and is a member of the national Honors society and will be able to pick the college of her choice...We Love you too Katie.
Steve - Congratulations! This is an life changing year for your son and you have obviously done a wonderful job raising him...enjoy all this last races and keep taking all those great photo's.
Five years ago my oldest was finishing up her softball career. Today she started her first "big girl" job. It flies by so fast.
Best of luck to Conor to have a great senior year. Tell him to make great memories.
Peggy...I grew up playing varsity sports against your home town...I'm a Lincoln- Sudbury High Guy. Thanks so much for your kind words.
Conor, I've got your back. It looks like you have a good kick, too. Congrats to you, Steve. Like father like son I would say. (By the way, I like the look of the Bobcat tennis courts).
Tammy...Does it get easier, when they go away to school...then move away for good? I know it doesn't, you teach them to walk and they run, teach them to read and they write the next great American Novel.
Steve...
It sounds like you have plenty to be proud of! Every ending is a new beginning.
Syeve, I can totally relate to what you are going through. My daughter is a senior and plays club soccer now in the fall and will play for her high school again in the spring. It is great watching them have the time of their lives, and sad to know how our lives will change when she is gone. I'm mourning already!
Richard...I'm very proud and I'm going to miss this guy when school is hours away.
Steve, great post on your son...this post definitely says how proud you are of Connor.....I particularly was touched by your statement ,,," the world is your Oyster and you my son are the rarest of perls' you shine in your own unique way"
Steve: Special memories that you both will cherish and he can take with him as he grows up to be a father someday!!
Rebecca...Conor will be a Renaissance man some day, he plays jazz guitar, is a phenomenal athlete, and strives to unlock chemical mysteries that have yet to be discovered. He's way beyond any ambition I had at his age.
I see many trips in your future Steve. You have a right to be proud!
Bill...I hope he picks a school with good restaurants near by...I see visits in the future too.
Great job chronicling your son's last track event of the season Steve. I love the way you tied it in to his educational goals too. Well done!
What a great blog...you're one proud Papa, with reason to be!
Craig...I know I probably seem over the top but I only have one child and he makes me very proud.
