What I think he meant to say if he meant to say what I think he said, if he was talking about real estate.
"This is like deja vu all over again" I have been through a few economic cycles in my 25 year career, and even though we are down we are not out.
"I want to thank you for making this day necessary" I'm thinking a forced property sale due to a divorce - but in fact Yogi was talking about "appreciation day in St. Louis"
"If you can't imitate him, don't copy him" If you aren't Donald Trump, you can't be like Donald Trump.
"If you come to a fork in the road, take it" Directions on the MLS sheet.
"Nobody goes there anymore; it's too Crowded" The Monthly Realtors Meetings
"I take a two hour nap, From one O'clock to Four" I have floor time every Tuesday.
"The other team could make trouble for us if they win" The old story of market share.
"I didn't really say everything I said" Promises reminded at the closing table, with buyers attorney there.
"You can observe a lot just by watching" Listen twice as much as you speak and you learn a lot more.
"If you don't know where you are going, you will wind up somewhere else". Remember to under promise and over deliver- not the other way around, that gets expensive.
"A nickel isn't worth a dime today" It's not all about the money..it's also about the time.
"The towels were so thick there I could hardly close my suitcase"..The first known quote about the value of staging.
"You should always go to other people's funerals: otherwise they would come to yours" If you only work with loved ones you'll have a very short career. Now get out there and mingle- you could meet your next wife at someones Wedding..that's where I met my Divorce attorney.

Steve, I am actually old enough to remember seeing Yogi play and I still have his baseball card some where in that pile over there. I hope you get a decent snowfall this year...
Paul, I hope these Yogi-isms brought you a smile, I just love his quotes. Thanks fro dropping by. Steve
Steve, these are priceless I can't get this stupid grin off my face. My favorite is the fork in the road and MLS directions! You are truly the King of Loon Mountain!
Steve, Thanks for the time savings tip: I think I will use those MLS directions the next time I post a new listing. Too funny.
Laura, I have seen similar directions on MLS..take the fork in the road..if you come to a spoon you have gone too far. Some times I crack myself up.
Mary, in the same vain regarding directions...a teammate to Yogi once said I think we are lost to which he replied "Yeah, but we're making great time".
Here is one of my favorite Yogi-isms ..once, Yogi's wife asked "Yogi, you are from St. Louis, we live in New Jersey, and you played ball in New York. If you go before I do where would you like me to have you buried- Yogi Replied, Surprise me".
I love the Yogi-isms. He certainly added a lot of humor to the game. He once said "Half the game is 90% mental." I used to watch Yogi play and he certainly was one of my favorites.
Jon, I'm paraphrasing but he also said, give 100% in the first half of the game, and give what's left in the second half. What a hoot!!
Some of my favorite sayings and the sad part is I understand some of them.
Terry, I know what your saying..no matter where you go there you are..Steve
Steve ~ He did say things that made you have to think for a minute! My family and I had the pleasure of meeting Yogi Berra in Cooperstown several years ago. He was very gracious to sign autographs and take pictures. My son still has his picture with Yogi hanging on the wall in his room.
Kathy, Yogi had another quote that I think relates to real estate right now.. and the professionals who know it will turn around if they stick with it, he was talking about baseball & specifically batting when he said "Slump? I ain't in no slump. I just ain't hitting" Welcome to a slow market. Thanks for the story, make sure your son holds on to the picture. Steve
Ahhhh, Yogi-isms!
Such a part of American heritage and so appropos for today's Real Estate climate.
Craig, I'll throw another great one out there (my wife doesn't get this one at all)
"Why buy good luggage? You only use it when you travel". thanks for the drop by. Steve
Thanks for the food for thought! Have a great week!
Brooke
Thanks , Brooke..you too. Steve
Steve,
That was pretty funny; I like Yogi-isms too.
